Seaford Golf Club

Over one hundred years old but the club continues to improve and evolve

Seaford Blatchington is laid out along the free draining chalk ridge that leaves Seaford to the north. The peaceful location of the course away from traffic is enhanced by magnificent views. To the south, the course overlooks the turquoise English Channel, to the north are stunning views over the Rathfinny Vineyard and to the east the views continue beyond Seaford to the spectacular Seven Sisters.

The club is committed to making the course the best it can be and recently installed a new irrigation system with the addition of a borehole coming soon. Continual investment in modern machinery ensures we manage the greens and fairways to a high standard while course improvements are ongoing. Under the guidance of course architect Ken Moodie, we are part way through a five year programme of works to update our bunkers, clear scrub and modify tee boxes. The work is carried out with minimal disruption but the benefits are clear to see and have been well received. There will be six holes completed for the start of 2025.

The Course

Perhaps surprisingly, the course is an easy walk with only 120ft elevation from the clubhouse to the 8th green but enough height for our legendary course architect JH Taylor to realise his vision of a testing challenge. By using the natural undulations of the landscape and incorporating the old flint quarries located in front of the 6th and to the left of the 7th greens, Mr Taylor’s ambitious creation was realised in 1907. Having stood the test of time with a tweak from Mr Hawtree, Seaford is established as one of the top courses in Sussex.

The course measures 6,546 yards par 69, off the white tees. With the introduction of our new blue tees, we now also have three shorter options for members and guests to choose their tee of the day. The addition of two extra holes alongside the main course also offers an 11 or 8 hole short course option.

The Club

The club has superb practice facilities for beginners and accomplished golfers; a full length driving range with the luxury of playing off grass, although there are three covered bays if the weather turns. The three-hole academy course is designed to sharpen your approach play and we have a chipping and bunker area along with an 18 hole putting green.

Within the clubhouse your experience will continue with a relaxed atmosphere, a fully stocked bar with a selection of local traditional ales and new world beer. Our in-house catering team are on hand to provide you with a full menu and come into their own when they cater for the numerous functions that are run by the Social Committee.

The club was founded in 1887 and we continue to hold on to our traditional full sized snooker table while we have kept up with the times. Sky TV is available in the two bars and one function room, along with the all-important Wi-Fi made available throughout the clubhouse.

The club runs a busy diary of golf competitions for the Ladies and Men’s sections including friendly and competitive matches against other clubs. Each year we enter teams in to the Sussex County Golf Unions’ events for our best players to represent Seaford Golf Club against the best amateurs in the county.
